Jay Glazer at Fox Sports is reporting that the St. Louis Rams have fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo on Monday morning. Glazer offered that information via Twitter around 9:20 a.m. Central. The team has yet to confirm that information.
Last night, Chris Mortensen at ESPN reported that Rams owner Stan Kroenke would fire Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney. That report was not confirmed by the team. Other outlets reported that no decision had been made regarding the fate of Spagnuolo and Devaney.
Spagnuolo divided Rams fans in his later days, with a contingent wanting to keep around beyond this season. However, the Rams failed to overcome injuries and live up to expectations. They had the league's worst offense this season, and the run defense got worse after some free agent moves to try and improve it. Ultimately, a 10-38 record said all that needed to be said about Spagnuolo's tenure with the Rams.
Glazer's report says nothing about Billy Devaney's future with the team beyond this year, so there is news yet to come.
