Yesterday the NFL season kicked off. The Saint and the Packers played and the defending champs put on a show winning 42-34. In fact ever since the NFL has moved to Thursday night openers for the season, the defending Super Bowl champions are undefeated. I'm just so thrilled that football is back. The offseason was so long this year. On to the links.
Here's a recap of the game from ESPN.
Peyton Manning had another neck surgery
Yesterday Manning underwent his third neck surgery in 19 months. Now it's being reported that he will at least be out 2-3 months. Some are reporting that this could be the beginning of the end of Manning. The only thing that is certain is the Colts are going to have a tough time without Manning. No other team depends on one player more.
The Rams have chosen the three captains for this season. They are Steven Jackson, James Hall and Josh Brown. The voting was done by the coaches and players. I'm wondering when guys like James Laurinaitis will get a shot at captain.
The 49ers put Avery through a workout this week. Don't get to excited there a long way between working out and a contract. The thing that has shocked me about Avery is that no team has picked him up yet. Maybe the Rams and the rest of the league knew something about him that we all don't know.
Here's ESPN weekly expert picks. Three of the ten pick the Rams to upset the Eagles. All ten picked the Cardinals to beat the Panthers. Finally, nine of the ten picked the 49ers to beat the Seahawks.
Rams one of the least valuable NFL teams
According to Forbes, the Rams rank 30th out of the 32 team in overall value. This is to be expected. The team hasn't had a winning season since 2003. The two teams behind the Rams are the Oakland Raiders and the Jaguars. The Rams are valued at $775 Million. On the other hand the most valuable team, the Cowboys, have a net worth of $1.85 billion.
That's all I got for today. Have a good one and GO RAMS!!
