St. Louis Rams notes, 9/7: Danny Amendola's new role

Is there anything St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola cannot do? The hardest working athlete in St. Louis has a new job now: the Rams' emergency third quarterback. That's right, with just two QBs on the roster, Amendola would step in should the unthinkable happen.

It's sort of like the Secretary of State (so it's actually the Speaker of the House that's third in line) and the presidential ascendancy process. Hopefully it never comes to that, nothing against Danny. We really can't be too far away from Tony La Russa wanting to bring Amendola over to his sinking baseball team. Amendola will actually take some snaps in practice...just in case.

Other notes from practice today...

TE Michael Hoomanawanui was the only player to sit out today's session. He's doubtful for the game this week, but Spagnuolo said they will try to get him into the game this week.

Defensive linemen James Hall (back) and Eugene Sims (oblique) practiced today, but are still dealing with minor injuries. Both are listed as limited

As you might expect, it's a special week for Spagnuolo, who faces his former team for the first time as a head coach in the NFL. Spags had this to say:

It's always a little special when you play people you've gone to war with, friendships, the closeness. That's a class organization with class people. I've got a tremendous amount of respect for Andy Reid. He gave me my start in this league.
