The St. Louis Rams will start Darian Stewart at safety rather than Craig Dahl this week against the Baltimore Ravens. Stewart replaces Dahl who struggled in pass coverage against the Giants last week. The move may also have as much to do with countering Ray Rice as pass defense though.
Here's Jim Thomas from the Post-Dispatch:
The Rams were pretty high on Stewart during the offseason, even citing his play as part of the decision to let Oshiomogho Atogwe walk away as a free agent after the Rams released him.
Stewart will be paired with free agent addition S Quintin Mikell, who had an interception against the Giants last week. The combo of Mikell and Stewart packs a little more speed. Both will have to keep a close eye on the field in front of them with Rice operating out of the backfield. Coverage is important here as the Rams are really hurting at corner without Ron Bartell.
