The St. Louis Rams dug that Motown sound and promoted cornerback Josh Gordy from the practice squad to the active roster. Gordy replaces Tim Atchison who was added to the injured reserve list because of a hamstring injury. Gordy is just one of four cornerbacks on the Rams 53-man roster.
To fill the vacancy left by Gordy on the practice squad, the Rams re-signed running back Chase Reynolds. Gordy spent the bulk of last season on the Green Bay practice squad. He saw time in two games with the Packers last year. An undrafted player out of Central Michigan, the scouting report on Gordy drips with intriguing possibilities.
I'm pretty damn intrigued by the fact that Gordy is the cousin of the one and only Berry Gordy, founder of the Motown record label. Whether you're aware of it or not, you KNOW the Motown sound. Maybe the biggest label of the 1960s, Motown's roster included Gladys Knight, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and one of my all-time favorite artists, Marvin Gaye. That's way more of an aside than you need, but it's too cool to leave unmentioned.
