The St. Louis Rams took a short break after a busy day in free agency, but they returned to action this afternoon. According to reports, the Rams are talking to some running backs including Ronnie Brown. They are also said to be talking to Joseph Addai and maintaining their interest in Jason Snelling.
The PD reported the news about Ronnie Brown within the last hour. The same report also passed along the news about Joseph Addai. Interest in Ronnie Brown should come as no surprise. His name was mentioned as the dust settled from the 2011 NFL Draft, when the Rams came away without a running back. Brown was highly regarded by McDaniels' old boss, that stodgy "MyFace" guy in New England.
Addai makes his first appearance in connection with the Rams. Addai can catch a ball with the best of them and block well for a running back; he does come from a system know to pass the ball on occasion. He could be a nice get with a guard like Harvey Dahl now blocking for him.
Something to note here. Think of how many free agents the Rams have been mentioned with so far. Now, think about the players they signed. Since the start of the week the signings and rumors have rarely matched up; they never do. This Rams front office does well with the art of obfuscation when it comes to free agents.
