Nolan Cromwell, the St. Louis Rams wide receivers coach, was on-hand to watch Indiana WR Tandon Doss at a late pro day workout. Doss had his pro day workout pushed back because he surgery to repair a muscle tear in his stomach. This was the first chance teams had to see him go through the NFL prospect workout.
Doss turned in a disappointing 4.56 forty at his pro day today. According to his agent, he wasn't 100 percent. Maybe so, but that won't help questions about his durability. Forty time aside, Doss did earn good marks for his work on position drills and didn't miss a single ball thrown his way.
Timed speed might not be all it's cracked up to be for Doss; some scouting reports say he plays faster than his timed speed. He's not a guy that will stretch the field though. What he does is provide what could be a top notch possession receiver who gets YAC with physical play and excellent hands, his best asset. Kevin Weidl compared Doss to Hines Ward back in January.
