The big fish are releasing their own 2011 mock drafts. Today, Peter King of Sports Illustrated dropped his, which will be featured in the upcoming print edition (what's that?) of the magazine. King gives the St. Louis Rams a familiar face in his mock draft, someone that mock draft watchers should know pretty well at this point.
In Peter King's mock draft, the St. Louis Rams select Illinois DT Corey Liuget with the 14th overall pick. Like so many drafts before, Liuget's name is becoming anathema to Rams fans just because it's taking away the element of surprise out of the first round next Thursday.
King's predictions come with a recommendation of who the team should draft, and it's the same for the Rams. Here's his justification:
Look back at Steve Spagnuolo's Super Bowl defense, when his Giants beat the Patriots. Players came in waves, particularly from the interior, to batter Tom Brady. Liuget just turned 21. He had 17 tackles behind the line last season, with 10 QB pressures and six passes batted down. His stock's rising, and it should. Some teams like him better than Nick Fairley as a sufficient run stopper and possible Sapp-type rush tackle.
As for Julio Jones, he went 6th to the Browns. A.J. Green was mocked to the Cardinals...which I don't buy.
