2011 NFL Draft rumors: Rams and Cowboys talking trade?

Reports out today suggest that the St. Louis Rams and the Dallas Cowboys have talked about trading their first round picks. Dallas current owns the 9th pick, St. Louis the 14th. The move would allow the Rams to select Alabama WR Julio Jones...and maybe even possibly A.J. Green, though that's unlikely.

Remember, this is that crazy time of year when all kinds of draft rumors start to float around like tree pollen in the midwest spring air. Sticking with the analogy, much of it will make you choke.

Reports about teams wanting to trade out of the top ten in the 2011 NFL Draft have been rampant lately. It's a nice thought, but it's unlikely...very unlikely. This rumor could be as much about Dallas wanting to trade down as the Rams wanting to trade up, and it could very well be nothing but pure rumor, thrown out there by media or teams jockeying for position in the 2011 NFL Draft.

And what about the cost? Howard Balzer speculates that the trade would likely cost the Rams their third round pick. That's a little steep for me. Is Jones really worth surrendering a pick that could easily turn up some much needed help at running back or offensive guard...not to mention a host of other positions where the Rams need depth and talent.
