With the sixth pick in the 2011 TST Community Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns, represented by T.Ram select: Julio Jones, WR, Alabama. Tevin gives us his reasoning:
This pick was a very easy one. The Browns have said that they will go with Colt Mccoy as a starter this season, so a developmental player in Newton wasn't even an option. I know the Browns are switching to a 4-3 defense, and a pass rusher would be have been nice. With Quinn and Peterson gone on defense, the Browns have no choice, but to head to help the offense. The Browns have some average at best wide receivers, with Cribbs being the best one. Thats nice and all, but I'm sure Shurmur wouldn't mind having a play making WR. Jones would be the perfect fit in their west coast system, and their offense will finally have enough weapons to be productive.
Indeed he is right; this pick is a no-brainer. Everyone here at TST loves Julio Jones, or at least the majority, so snagging a weapon like Jones who can help Colt McCoy develop is a slam dunk. Like he said, Joshua Cribbs is their most imposing threat on offense, so adding a player like Julio to go along with their good running game would substantially help this offense. Then again, Pat Shurmur wasn't really a big fan of the whole "moving the ball" thing, so a defensive pick might happen. Great pick either way.
