The NFLPA, or what's left of it, announced it's pre-draft event today. Called "The Debut," it features current and former NFL players welcoming soon-to-be-drafted rookies into the league. The event happens on Thursday, April 28, the day of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. It does not, however, coincide with the draft, as was once the threat made in the heat of the labor battle. "The Debut" takes place from 4-6 p.m. that afternoon, somewhere on Times Square, which gives players just enough time to get over to Radio City Music Hall to, hopefully, shake Roger Goodell's hand.
Among the current players scheduled to attend "The Debut" is last year's first overall pick, St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford. That makes sense, especially in the unlikely event there is a rookie salary cap in place and Bradford is last rookie to line up a $50 million guaranteed deal before playing a single snap in the NFL. Other players on tap for the event include Felix Jones, Brandon Marshall and Ray Rice.
