It's been a wild afternoon for fans of the St. Louis Rams...and NFL fans in general.
The St. Louis Rams cut Oshiomogho Atogwe last month. Today, he signed a five-year, $26 million deal with the Washington Redskins. Thus ends the Rams' strange contract dance with Atogwe...franchised in '09, a RFA in '10 and a dangling on the lowest tender, only to be brought back with a contract that virtually guaranteed his release this year.
I'm not sure how to feel about it. One the one hand, it's the business, and this administration at Rams Park has had a pretty good track record with big personnel moves like this, so far. They do gamble, especially with Atogwe over the years. On the flip side, I hate to see the team lose an important player and a leave a hole in the roster.
On the labor front, the NFL and the NFLPA agreed to a 24-hour extension. Will it work? We'll see, but it does at least mean things are better than they were a few weeks ago.
