The St. Louis Rams may be close to kicking off the Tom Brandstater era. Quarterback A.J. Feeley has a fractured right thumb. Sam Bradford is still dealing with the lingering effects of a re-aggravated high ankle sprain that put him on the inactive list this week.
At his Monday afternoon press conference, Steve Spagnuolo, the Rams' lame duck head coach, said that, as of now, if Bradford can't play, Brandstater would "be the guy." He did make it sound as though he was optimistic that Bradford would be able to play Monday night.
Of course, it may be just as well if Tom Brandstater is the guy since the offensive line is even more injured. Left guard Jacob Bell has a grade 2 MCL sprain that could end his season. Bell is scheduled to become a free agent after this season, after reworking his contract to clear cap space prior to the start of the year.
If neither Bradford or Feeley can play this week, there's no telling what the Rams might do to get a backup quarterback.
Also likely to be limited at practice on Wednesday: Craid Dahl, Adam Goldberg, Mark LeVoir, Donnie Jones and Eugene Sims.
