VIDEO: Chris Long Sacks Alex Smith

The St. Louis Rams defense is having a solid outing against the San Francisco 49ers, keeping the game at a 9-0 lead in San Fran's favor. It could be far worse than that, and holding the 49ers to a field goal after they recovered a fumble on the Rams' six-yard line was truly remarkable, one week after helping put Beanie Wells in the record books. One of the main reasons for the success of the defense today is none other than Chris Long, the fourth year defensive end whose career season continues.

Long picked up two sacks today, giving him a career-best 12 for the season. Here's his sack on Alex Smith to the end the first half of the game.

Long and rookie Robert Quinn have been able to get pressure on Smith. Long has been especially effective against tackle Anthony Davis, a first-round pick of the 49ers.

If only he could score points...
