NFL Draft notes - early college football open thread

Well it's Conference Championship Day, the last normal day of the regular season of college football. Next weekend is reserved for Army-Navy, and then we're into bowl season which is crucial for scouting. Thankfully, there's top quality options today as well.

I've only got one game on this week's watchlist right now, but I'll try to add one or two more throughout the day. Make sure to check in with Mocking the Draft too for game notes on a couple matchups.

- Southern Miss at Houston, CUSA Championship (ABC, 12:00pm): I put this one on the watchlist since I had yet to include either team to this point and since it's the lone conference championship among the early games. The college-level storylines revolve around Houston remaining undefeated and how long Houston HC Kevin Sumlin can act like he's staying at Houston (my money's on A&M picking him up for their inaugural SEC season). For Rams scouting though, watch Houston's OLB pair of Sammy Brown and Phillip Steward.

- Syracuse at Pittsburgh (ESPN2/ESPN3, 12:00pm): DE Chandler Jones is picking up hype, but obviously shouldn't be on the Rams' radar with Chris Long and Robert Quinn in tow. Rams fans should, however, be looking at Pitt prospects like OLB Brandon Lindsey and G Lucas Nix. I've had both teams on the watchlist earlier in the year; go to the last tab to see which teams I've featured in which week.

- Connecticut at Cincinnati (ESPN/ESPN3, 12:00pm) This might be the game with the most Rams-friendly prospects. For the Huskies, DT Kendall Reyes, OLB Sio Moore and C Moe Petrus all should be on Rams scouts lists. And Cincy RB Isaiah Pead could be a perfect complementary addition to Steven Jackson. Derek Wolfe, a Bearcat DT, should be an early day 3 option. And SS Drew Frey might be in play for the Rams in the 2013 draft.

The schedule offers some great matchups starting midday, so stick around.
