Rams Add Two Former Longhorns To Practice Squad

The St. Louis Rams made some practice squad moves today, adding two players and releasing one. According to Jim Thomas, the Rams signed wide receiver John Chiles and linebacker Eddie Jones to the practice squad. They also released wide receiver David Gilreath. A few players also popped into Rams Park for a visit today, one of whom fans should recognize.

Chiles was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the Saints this year. He eventually ended up playing for the Arena League team in Jacksonville. Chiles has some speed, but limited upside. Check out some scouting reports on him right here. Follow him on Twitter @JayChiles. Eddie Jones is also a former Texas player. He had strong senior season for the Longhorns, but went undrafted. The Jets signed him to their practice squad on and off this year.

At Rams Park today for a tryout was former Rams offensive guard Roger Allen III. A product of Missouri Western University, Allen was signed by the Rams as a UDFA in 2009. He spent most of that season on the practice squad, before making his starting debut in the Rams last game of the season...where he tore his ACL. The Rams let him go in 2010, and the Saints added him to their practice squad. He was released from New Orleans in August with an injury settlement. You can follow Allen on Twitter @Big_Rog70

Two wide receivers Wesley Lyons and Owen Spencer also tried out today.
