The St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals have announced their inactives for today's game. Mostly, the lists are filled with the walking wounded. Everyone on the Rams' inactive list, except for Ben Leber, was out or limited in practice this week.
The Rams inactives are: T Mark LeVoir, G Bryan Mattison, WR Danario Alexander, RB Cadillac Williams, LB Josh Hull, LB Ben Leber, DT Justin Bannan.
Again, no surprises, not even Leber who was supposed to address the Rams' needs at outside linebacker, bringing experience and a capable skill set when signed to a one-year free agent deal. Only the one-year part of the Leber decision looks good in hindsight. Not exactly another feather in Billy Devaney's cap for free agent moves.
The most concerning absence is DT Justin Bannan. The Rams run defense has improved greatly since being embarrassed by the Dallas Cowboys. The big bodied Bannan creates a traffic problem in the middle for opposing runners. Gary Gibson will start in his place.
Nick Miller will handle punt return duties, taking over for Austin Pettis, whew.
The offensive line will look like, from left to right: Adam Goldberg, Jacob Bell, Tony Wragge, Jason Brown and Harvey Dahl.
At corner, Rod Hood will be the third man, nickel corner, and Josh Gordy and Justin King will start. Gordy has been a pleasant surprise for the Rams this season, and the coaching staff deserves a little credit for using King according to his abilities and limitations.
The Cardinals inactives are: QB Kevin Kolb, WR Stephen Williams, FS Kerry Rhodes, FB Reagan Maui'a, LB Joey Porter, T D'Anthony Batiste, TE Rob Housler.
