Some notable names were missing from the St. Louis Rams practice today. Injuries continue to pile up for the ailing Rams. Starters James Laurinaitis and Justin Bannan joined the ranks of players sitting out practice.
Neither one was expected to practice today, according to Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo. Laurinaitis is dealing with a foot injury, and Bannan has a shoulder injury. Both had an MRI on Monday following the Seattle game. Also sitting out today: Josh Hull, Mark LeVoir and Justin Smith. Smith may be headed to the injured reserve list.
Danario Alexander was limited, still dealing with a hamstring injury. The Rams are said to be mulling a move to IR for DX as well. He did not practice at all last week, so maybe this is a good sign. Mark Clayton, Lance Kendricks, Chris Long, Justin King, Austin Pettis and Cadillac Williams were also limited in practice.
After placing Marquis Johnson on the injured reserve list, the Rams are shorthanded at cornerback, again. They plan to dress just four, the only four they have on the roster, this week against the Cardinals. That means Nate Ness, fresh off the practice squad, Rod Hood, Justin King and Josh Gordy are it for the Rams corners this week. Remember that King was limited in practice today with knee and ankle issues.
Finally, another two players tried out for the Rams. Former Bengals and Colts cornerback Morgan Trent and former Patriots defensive lineman Kade Weston tried out for the Rams.
