St. Louis Rams DE Robert Quinn Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

St. Louis Rams rookie defensive end Robert Quinn played a big part in his team's stunning upset of the New Orleans Saints. The highlight of his day was a blocked punt in the second quarter. That gave St. Louis the ball on the Saints' 15-yard line, which they punched in for a touchdown and a lead they would not relinquish. The play earned Quinn the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award.

Quinn saw plenty of playing time in the Rams' win last week. Among the defensive linemen, only Chris Long, James Hall and Fred Robbins played more snaps than Quinn. Having the lead benefited the Rams pass rush and earned Quinn more playing time as they used their four-DE packages more often. Quinn also picked up his second sack of the season.

This was hopefully the first of many big games for Quinn. With the Cardinals, next week's opponent, struggling mightily to protect their quarterback, Quinn should get another opportunity to make his presence felt.
