Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, the Rams have suffered another injury. The Rams official twitter page said earlier today that, Rodger Saffold strained his pectoral muscle lifting weights this morning. We didn't know how serious it was until this tweet from Jim Thomas came out.
LT Rodger Saffold suffers what Rams officials term a "signifcant" pectoral injury. He's ruled out Sun; probably needs season-ending surgery.@jthom1
Rodger Saffold, was just cleared for contact yesterday, this injury doesn't leave the Rams any better on the offensive line. Sam Bradford had leaky protection before, but now it could have gotten worse. Mark LeVoir will get the start at left tackle.
One of the Rams biggest issues moving forward will be how to fix their offensive line. They have paid big money and it just hasn't been worth it. The Rams only have one player who should feel safe on the offensive line and that's newly acquired Harvey Dahl. Jacob Bell contract is over after this season, Jason Smith hasn't played well, Jason Brown the Rams center was benched last week, and now this injury to the struggling Saffold.
The Rams will have to start thinking about fixing what should have been a solid line this season, into a solid line next season.
