Danny Amendola' injury has the St. Louis Rams on the edge of their seats. After looking like he might return sooner rather than later after dislocating his elbow, the wide receiver re-injured it in practice last week. Tomorrow, he will have a second opinion on his injury to determine whether or not he will require surgery.
Obviously he did not practice today. Yesterday, we heard one pretty credible report that surgery was likely. That would keep Amendola out for the season.
If he does not need surgery, his return date would be the next question to answer. It seems unlikely that he would be back on the field after the Rams' bye week.
I don't think it's any secret just how much the Rams, especially quarterback Sam Bradford, miss their top receiver from last year. He had the most reliable hands on the team and a knack for getting separation underneath with his quickness. Mark Clayton would be eligible to return in time for the Rams week seven game against the Cowboys. Someone needs to step up in the interim.
