The Dallas Cowboys jumped out to an early lead over the St. Louis Rams. Early in the first quarter Dallas running back DeMarco Murray broke through middle of the line of scrimmage for a 91-yard touchdown run to give Dallas a 7-0 lead. Rams defensive tackles were tied up by the Dallas offensive line. Quintin Mikell, staying deep, got turned around as Murray made a nice cut to race by the Rams' safety.
Here's a video of Murray's touchdown run...and the missed tackles.
Murray was a third round pick out of Oklahoma. With a college career marked by injury, many wondered about his effectiveness in the NFL. Murray and Tashard Choice are starting today in place of the injured Felix Jones.
It was the longest touchdown run the Rams have surrendered to a running back this season. It was not the longest touchdown they have surrendered, however. A couple of opposing receivers have broken the 90-yard mark for touchdowns against one of the league's worst defenses.
