With the NFL trade deadline set for Tuesday, the hottest name on the rumor mill has been Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd. The Broncos made it public that he was available for a third- to fifth-round pick. Since then, a couple of teams that were connected to Lloyd have denied interest. Add the Arizona Cardinals to the list.
Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic relays the news that the Cardinals are not an interested team.
Those points do make you wonder about a potential Lloyd trade to the St. Louis Rams. It is worth noting that Lloyd is on pace, or was, for a another 1,000-yard season, but the QB situation in Denver will change that.
Carolina was also linked to Lloyd, but they have denied interest as Lloyd is a similar player to Steve Smith. Tennessee has not denied interest, but they seem unlikely to pull the trigger at this point.
According to the original report in the Denver Post, "several" teams were said to be interested in Lloyd. Earlier today, we picked up some low level buzz that the Rams were indeed exploring the possibility of such a move. Another team being talked about in the mix for Lloyd is the Washington Redskins.
