NFL Trade Rumors: Reggie Wayne And Robert Mathis

NFL trade rumors heated up in the last 24 hours after a piece by Adam Schefter on the trades that should happen regarding Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne and DE Robert Mathis. Whether or not there's anything to that trade talk, both names are sure to get plenty of discussion between now and the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday. Neither of these players matter as far as the St. Louis Rams are concerned.

It is worth noting that over at Stampede Blue, they do see some potential smoke around the potential for trading those two players. If Wayne really is on the market, it could potentially drive down the cost of Brandon Lloyd. Teams in the running this year, might opt for the older Wayne who has plenty of playoff experience. The difference between Wayne is Brandon Lloyd is that a team like the Rams can look at Lloyd as a player capable of having an impact next year; in fact, I tend to think that's the real advantage of that potential deal versus trying to save an 0-4 start.

Robert Mathis, 30, is getting up there too. Despite his age, he can still get to the quarterback. He has 3.5 sacks this season, and he and Dwight Freeney almost beat the Steelers by themselves a few weeks ago. It kind of make you wonder if the Rams wouldn't have some trade value in James Hall

In truth, the Colts would be foolish not to listen to offers for either of these guys. This is an aging team that needs to get younger to stay competitive.
