Sunday Morning Bloody Mary: Will Matt Hasselbeck start against the Rams?

Chris Long of the St. Louis Rams pressures Matt Hasselbeck of the Seattle Seahawks in a week 4 Rams victory. If he starts, this could be Hasselbeck's last game against the Rams as the Seahawks' QB.

Sorry for the bad, Bleacher Report-like headline, but at least there's something here for those of you reading above a fourth grade level.

A decade is a long time, in football terms at least, and that's been enough time for the St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks to develop a fierce rivalry. Of course, it hasn't had the drawing power it once did in recent seasons as the Rams organization collapsed on itself. And now the two teams meet in the Butt of All Jokes Bowl with the winner claiming the NFC West title.

Rams fans have watched Matt Hasselbeck grow during that time, owning a 10-5 record against the Rams, with 3,200+ yards, 19 touchdowns and an 82.9 passer rating against St. Louis. Strange to think that this could be his last game against the Rams as part of the Seahawks. And he might not even play.

Hasselbeck took snaps at Friday's practice, but was limited. He is listed as questionable for today's game. Having all day to rest his troublesome hip should help, and it seems unlikely that Seattle would want Hasselbeck on the bench if he can at all play. After all, Seattle fans may rather have the draft pick, but the front office would rather have the extra income that comes with a home playoff game. Hasselbeck would seem to give them their best chance to win, even if the Rams have been making backup QBs look like tenured starters this season.

Bring on Hasselbeck. Beating Seattle with him at the helm would be a fitting send off from the ascendent Rams and Sam Bradford.
