Oh man, this is absolutely the best time of year. Why? Because the 2011 NFL Draft craziness is in full effect. Practice began today for the East-West Shrine Game, which happens on Sunday, and already prospect reports are trickling in, ready to be devoured by draft-hungry fans.
The most intriguing report so far comes from Kevin Weidl of ESPN and Scouts, Inc. with a tidbit about one of the wide receivers practicing for the East-West game. Here's Weidl on Twitter:
watched Indiana WR Tandon Doss. Guy is a player. Polished route runner, strong hands and tough. This years mike williams.
I'm assuming he means Mike Williams in terms of the sleeper factor, since there aren't the same character red flags, that I know of, for Doss that hurt Williams' draft stock. With so many potential first round receivers opting to stay in school this year, the later round picks at that position are the guys to watch. And since the the Rams are picking 14th, they may be looking in those later rounds for a receiver.
Doss comes from Indiana, a teammate of Rams OT Rodger Saffold. He has a nice build at 6'3" 200 lbs. Mocking the Draft pegs him as a likely 3rd or 4th round pick.
Doss is represented by the same agent, Jared Fox of Sports Stars, as Rodger Saffold.
