Random Ramsdom, 1/16: OC search continues

The St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator search and the 2011 NFL Draft dominate the headlines today.
The St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator search and the 2011 NFL Draft dominate the headlines today.

No word on how the St. Louis Rams interview with Josh McDaniels went yesterday, as the team takes its first official steps to replace offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Brad Childress is scheduled for an interview early next week, and I suspect a decision will follow shortly. Lots of draft news to cover today too, so let's get right in to it.

Rams need to find an OC with all deliberate speed
Bernie Miklasz from the PD urges the Rams to get their offensive coordinator search wrapped up as soon as possible. I think they'll have it done by the end of this week.

Underclassmen headed for the 2011 NFL Draft
Yesterday was deadline day for underclassmen to declare for the 2011 NFL Draft. MTD has the list. It's an interesting year for running backs, both seniors and underclassmen, a year that has lots of potential role players available in the later rounds.

Which underclassmen made the wrong choice?

Rob Rang takes a look at a few underclassmen who probably should have stayed in school this year. He's looking at you Taiwan Jones, even though you're an early favorite for best name in the draft. Hello undrafted free agency.

Auburn's Fairley, best player in the draft?

The hype machine is churning for Auburn DT Nick Fairley. Already, there's speculation that he could be/should be Carolina's selection at first overall, and pundits are asking if he isn't the best overall player in the draft. He's a stud, but he's no Ndamukong Suh.

UFL "will return"

Though the UFL is in some lawsuit trouble with investor Mark Cuban, it's worth keeping an eye on what happens with that league this year. If the owners lock out the players, it's not out of the question that they could play in the UFL.

Oakland still a possibility for Nnamdi Asomugha

Whenever free agency does kick off this year, the biggest name out there will be Nnamdi. Could he return to Oakland before the inevitable bidding war begins?
