Injuries leave Rams hurting for tight ends and defensive tackles

Things went from bad to worse for the St. Louis Rams who issued another lengthy injury report in the wake of another disappointing loss.

TE Billy Bajema is out for 2-4 weeks with an MCL injury. TE Daniel Fells also has an MCL issue, less severe, and is day to day. Tight ends have been hit especially hard through two weeks of the season. Michael Hoomanawanui is out for up to 6 weeks, though he did have his cast off today. The injury to Bajema hurts because the Rams really need his blocking ability on the line. It probably means FB/TE Jamie McCoy gets promoted from the practice squad. Darcy Johnson is an adequate blocker, but the Rams really need a receiving option at tight end.

Hopefully, Daniel Fells will be back on the field in short order. In the meantime, I also wonder if they won't be giving Fendi Onobun a crash course to get him up to speed.

DT Jermelle Cudjo might also get a bump up from the practice squad because DT Darrell Scott will miss "extended time" thanks to a high ankle sprain. DT Clifton Ryan was out this week with migraines, though I did see it mentioned as complications with a concussion on one occasion. Ryan is no guarantee to return this week either. If Cudjo does get promoted, it would be a great chance for him to prove that his ability to get pressure in the preseason was no fluke.

Speaking of concussions, SS Craig Dahl has one, and those are tricky injuries, just ask Jason Smith. Dahl will have to pass a more rigorous battery of concussion tests before he can return, which could happen in time for this Sunday's game, but it probably won't.

OT Rodger Saffold had a sore back, but is fine. CBs Justin King and Kevin Dockery could be ready to go this week, though Jerome Murphy sure did make the case for more playing time.
