The St. Louis Rams announced yesterday that first overall pick Sam Bradford will get the start in the team's third preseason game, against the Patriots. Bradford's placeholder, A.J. Feeley, is out this week with a sprained thumb.
Bradford will get much needed reps with the first team, including RB Steven Jackson. ESPN's Mike Sando agrees. Despite an underwhelming performance against the Browns, Bradford has inspired nothing but confidence from those who have seen him play, the consensus being that he has shown the talent and the mental fortitude to develop as expected.
A good showing will put Bradford one giant leap closer to having the starting job nailed down.
Danario Alexander was at practice yesterday. The former Mizzou WR has "a lot of catching up to do."
Bradford could be without TE Daniel Fells, who is out with a knee injury. He's day-to-day, so watch to see if he practices today. Kevin Dockery, Eugene Sims, Brandon Gibson and Justin King are practicing this week, albeit in a limited fashion. No word on whether or not they'll play this week.
Thanks, but no thanks. Claude Wroten, former Rams DT, was reinstated by the NFL yesterday after being suspended for a substance abuse violation.
Finally, a vote on Stan Kroenke's ownership bid for the Rams is expected tomorrow.
