Here with the Ravens' pick is loyal2therams
With the 25th pick in the draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, South Florida.
With Gresham and Wilson off the board, CBs Patrick Robinson and Devin McCourty were also considered. However, Pierre-Paul is the BPA because of his potential. The Baltimore defensive veterans and the coaching staff provide a perfect location to nurture Pierre-Paul. Trevor Pryce is 34, and 29 year old Cory Redding is an average player. The defense is aging, and although their sack numbers were high, they were extremely inconsistent in pressuring QBs last year. Also, Haloti Ngata played too many snaps at RE and should be playing at DT. Pierre-Paul's athleticism has allowed him to become an effective pass rusher, and he has plenty of room to develop technique. He only started football during his junior year in high school, and played only one year at the collegiate level. Although he is undeniably raw, Baltimore will probably develop him into an effective situational rusher at the worst.
VanRam: Every draft has its busts, and there are lots of people who think JPP could be one this year. I guess we'll see.
