Rams sign Tanard Davis

Andre Dyson? Ty Law? Turns out the Rams went the "other guy" route to add depth to the cornerback position, signing Tanard Davis. Davis was signed last December by the Eagles from the Carolina practice squad. Davis is fast, but has bounced around the league as, mostly, a training camp depth guy. That's most likely what he'll be with the Rams.

The team's also working Derek Stanley with the corners now. Stanley has had a good camp at WR, but failed to shine, along with the rest of the team, against Tennessee in last weekend's preseason game. Stanley played the position in college, and the team's rewarding his dedication with another chance to make the team as a corner.

Here's how the depth chart looks right now at cornerback.

Tye Hill and Fakhir Brown retain the top spots. Ron Bartell is third. He'll see plays at nickle and spell Brown and Hill throughout the season. Bartell's had a good camp, at times showing an elevated level of play but still displaying his trademark inconsistency. Jonathan Wade, fourth on the depth chart, seems to have really blossomed in his second season. Those guys are locks to make the roster, and there's probably only room for one more CB, assuming the Rams keep 9 or 10 defensive back, including safeties. David Macklin, a veteran, and Darius Vinnett, who's shown well in coverage, are the odds on favorites for the last CB spot(s).
