Steven Jackson's quest for 1,000, continued

post yesterday assessed Steven Jackson's possibilities for reaching the 1,000 yard mark for the 4th season - he needs 227 yards with two games left to go. A steep climb. Anyway, following up on that, I thought it was worth looking at Jackson's prior performances against the two teams he'll face to end the season.

Jackson was out with his thigh bruise when the Rams and the 49ers played in week 11, so there's nothing to cite for 2008. In 2007 in the two games between the division rivals, Jackson ran for a total of 152 yards. In a week two, SJ carried the ball 21 times for 60 yards; in week 11 he ran 23 times for 92 yards, including a 37 yarder. Against the Falcons in week 13 last season, one of the Rams three wins, Jackson had 20 carries for 96 yards and a TD.

In 2006 (a tougher comparison given the personnel changes for the SF defense since then) Jackson accumulated 224 yards in two games; 22/103 in week 2 and 23/121 in week 12.
