Youth trumps experience in the Rams starting center battle, as Linehan named Romberg the guy today. Obviously, it was a close competition between the two and having depth at the position certainly doesn't hurt either.
I think the sheer amount of running the Rams have done in the preseason, with the majority coming up the middle, were as much about sorting out the starting center question as getting Brian Leonard the carries. It seemed that Romberg had the advantage in his run blocking ability, since running Jackson up the middle will be a key part of the team's efforts to control the game.
Romberg will grow with a talented young group of linemen around him, and in a few years, the Rams will have on the premier run blocking units in the league.
