Could Linehan get the ax before the season's over?

Few think Linehan could go before the season's end, with injuries to everyone but the team mascot providing cover. However, Linehan's dismissal is not out of the question and rumors are already emerging that he may be canned ahead of the week 9 bye week.

Here's a little innuendo from ProFootballTalk.com's Rumor Mill blog.

With the St. Louis Rams mired in one of the worst seasons in franchise history, speculation is running high in league circles as to whether coach Scott Linehan will make it to the end of the year.

Still, we don't rule out Linehan getting a horn in the hiney, especially with the bye coming up in just two weeks.

Jeff Gordon also made this passing reference in his Monday chat:

He [Haslet] would be the guy to take over in midseason, should John Shaw change his mind and make a change.

Depending on the outcome in Seattle this week, it's not a stretch to think Linehan could get the ax before the season's end. Put in the "don't think a midseason firing is likely" camp, but at this point in the season, I don't think I can be surprised anymore - other than a the Rams, you know, winning a game.

Keep watching this situation. We'll definitely know more by Sunday night.
