Per a challenge to post a diary by some drunk, crazy Bears fan (cough cough Chad cough cough), today I am posting a diary about my playoff picks. Starting with this weekend's games.
Indianapolis Colts at Baltimore Ravens
I believe this will be the best game of the weekend. You have the battle between a great offense (Indy's ranked 3rd in the NFL) and a great defense (Ravens are ranked 1st). You also get the pillow fight between the Raven's offense (17th) and Indy's defense (21st). I think the Ravens have too much talent on both sides of the ball to lose this one and they are also at home.
Pick: Ravens 27, Colts 21
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints
The nightcapper of Saturday's games also looks like a nice matchup. You have journeyman Jeff Garcia going against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. This looks like the closest game of the weekend and I think Philly's hot streak ends playing in a dome against a better team.
Pick: New Orleans 24, Philadelphia 23
Seattle Seahawks at Chicago Bears
I hate both teams, but Chicago's simply better, espcially at home. If Grossman plays well, this could be a blowout but if he tanks Seattle could keep it close if they force some turnovers. Watch out for Devin Hester in this one.
Pick: Chicago 30, Seattle 17
New England Patriots at San Diego Chargers
I believe this is the game where LT finally gets slowed down by a decent defense. The Patriots defense has a tendency slow down explosive offences in the playoffs (see Peyton Manning). However, I think San Diego has the capabilites to keep Tom Brady in check also. This one looks like a toss up, but I hate the Patriots (and Brady) and San Diego's at home. Watch out for Rivers' inexperience though.
Pick: San Diego 24, New England 23
Championship and Super Bowl Picks after the jump
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
I'll be rootin for the Saints hard in this one, but Chicago is again too good on defense and at home. I think New Orleans is primarily (yes Chad, I'm saying it) a dome team who can get slowed down in outdoor stadiums. The Bears stuff New Orleans running game (including Reggie Bush) and win the game. Watch out for Grossman though.
Pick: Chicago 28, New Orleans 13
Baltimore Ravens at San Diego Chargers
I think San Diego again is slowed down by Baltimore's #1 ranked defense. I also think Baltimore offense gets close to nothing. Look for a low scoring game with lots of field goals, but San Diego has just enough.
Pick: San Diego 19, Baltimore 16
Super Bowl XLI
Chicago Bears vs. San Diego Chargers
AFC beats NFC easily. I believe all four AFC playoff teams left are better than the NFCs top team. Grossman plays like crap, and San Diego blows 'em away.
Pick: San Diego 42, Chicago 17
There you have, feel free to criticize these at will. Also vote in the poll!
