Harris Joins Rams Running Backs

Kay-Jay Harris replaces Tony Fisher as the Rams' third running back, behind Jackson and Davis.

Harris has been one of Linehan's hand-picked players since being signed as an undrafted rookie in 2005 by Linehan, then offensive coordinator for the Dolphins. Word is that the 6-foot, 240-pound running back is familiar with Linehan's offense and special teams.

Linehan said this:

Really, Kay-Jay was the guy I wanted.

Harris will play on special teams, but not as a kick returner...yet.

Word is that J.R. Reed will return kicks for the Rams this week at Seattle.

Interesting side note about Harris from the Post-Dispatch: he was drafted by the Texas Rangers as a center fielder in 2001, and spent 3 seasons in the minors before returning to football.

Harris runs a 4.5 second 40.

No word from Denzel Washington.
