Is Jake Long a "done deal" for the Rams?
It's hard to know just what to believe concerning draft rumors this time of year.
But this tidbit from Matt Mosley at Hashmarks in mock draft reprise sure grabbed my attention.
It's not a done deal though, not for about a month anyway. Honestly, I'd probably be fine with this pick. Not my first choice, but a sound one at least.
They'd almost have to start him at RG this season, since I just can't imagine having the team's first pick in the draft and second overall pick sit on the bench after a 3-13 season. Unless of course there's a plan to move Barron secretly hatching.
As far as the trading down goes, Kansas City would really like to get some fresh blood on their o-line after making a considerable investment in LJ last season. With the Chiefs' fifth pick, Gholston would likely be available for the Rams. Not sure what else they could get from the Chiefs to even out the trade, but another draft pick wouldn't be a bad thing.
I don't know why there seems to be a reluctance to draft Gholston with the second pick; however, Auburn's Quentin Groves sure seems like he could be a very similar asset.
