Hagans On

Oh yeah, drink from the Governor's Cup baby!

The Rams finish up the preseason dead even at 2-2 with a sleeper in St. Louis last night. The biggest thing I took away from that game: Hagans deserves a roster spot. With Hagans on the 53 man roster, the Rams will have one of the deepest groups of receivers in the NFL, and because of Holt's name on the marquee, nobody will even notice. That's fine too; although, I'd like to see Hagans get a few balls thrown his way this season based on how well he's played this summer.

The game essentially served as final tryouts for both teams, so I don't know how much to read into the special teams' performance. They did limit the Chiefs to just 54 yards on 3 kick returns, the best ST showing in four preseason games. However, what Chiefs were they limiting to 54 yards, certainly not the first teamers. I guess at this point, we oughta take what we can get and hope it's something to build on.

Simeon Rice is in town for a physical and the Rams are giving the 33-year-old vet some consideration. Granted his experience would be nice as well as some depth at DE, but I really wonder just how much value he really has left on the field? Personally, I think the Rams might have more value in keeping third year DE Eric Moore around for depth at the position. Admittedly I haven't seen him play much until last night, but he's got three sacks in two preseason games and five tackles, four of the solo variety. This will be his fourth season in the league, and it seems like he's really developed as a player. I'm not saying he's the second coming of Leonard Little or anything, but he may just be good enough to provide the kind of DE pass rushing depth the Rams need. Something to think about.

hagans should be in
well ahead of derrik stanley.

i also agree with you on the simeon rice front. i think the rams have more value is retaining eric moore than they have in signing old, run-down simeon rice.

one thing i took from the game
McGragle (sp?) is a player. Period. He might practice squad this year but I think he will be a force in the middle at some point in his career. On the play where Ryan made a good run stop up the middle if you looked down there was mcg wrapped around his legs. Also, his pick was nice (horrible play by the princeton qb). I didn't know he was the all time D-1 leader in career tackles. Impressive, especially considering he was in the big 10. His knock was speed (I think) but he was moving around nicely last night. I wish we could have seen more of him out there the first 3 games. Also, like everyone, I am drowing in the Hagans kool-aid. He seems to have great instincts and I could see him as a starter in this league.

RAMS GET RICE

RICE A RAM

According to my sources the Rams and Simeon Rice are dotting the "I's" and crossing the "T's."

*Rice to sign with Rams.

*Conwell will join team in near future.

*Rams still trying to deal Ryan Fitzpatrick.

As soon as today, the Rams will announce the addition of Simeon Rice.

In a continuing effort to bolster the pass rush, the Rams will add Rice to the mix.

At the same time, the Rams are finalizing details for Ernie Conwell's return to the organization.

While it could take a few weeks to get Conwell into the rotation... the Rams and Conwell have an understanding he'll be added to roster soon.

So, expect the announcement on Rice as soon as today, with word on Conwell's return in the very near future.

If the Rams can't trade Ryan Fitzpatrick, he'll remain as the number three QB... if they do, Brock Berlin will be the number three.

Stay tuned to KTRS (The Big 550) for further news.

I'm not sure
what Conwell offers anything to the team that McMichael doesn't do 10 times better.  Granted, it's been a while since I paid any type of attention to Conwell, but I don't remember him being a blocking speicalist and last time I checked.....we are a little thin in that area of tight end.

I guess the only positive is my uncle can get his Conwell jersey out of storage....

And I'm like whatever about Rice.  He did piss me off a few years ago when on Monday Night Football's player intros, he said "Simeon Rice....School of Hard Knocks" or something equally as dumb.

Really annoyed me....AND I DIDN'T EVEN GO TO ILLINOIS!!!

Whatever.  He's a wannabe and has always thought he was much better than he ever really was.

Oh, and I couldn't care less if they trade Fitzpatrick.  The only amount of joy he's ever given me was two years ago during his little starting streak.  The Fox camera panned the crowd and briefly paused on a sign that read...

FITZ IS THE TITZ

Classic.
