Turf Show Radio

Turf Show Radio - Saturday, 4:30pm ET

Tsr_logo_medium

Holy guacamole, Spagnuolo cannoli! It's Turf Show Radio!

Yes, on Saturday, we'll have a lovely episode of podcast mastery starting 4:30pm ET...as long as fatherly duties don't interfere. Click HERE for the show.

We'll recap this forgettably unforgettable (?) season, glance ever so quickly at the home stretch, and talk the big issues: coaching and front office job openings, and the 2012 NFL Draft. So get at us.

Call us at (724) 444-7444, enter the show ID and pound symbol (97249#), and then enter your TalkShoe ID (if you don't have one, enter 1# to call in as a guest). And if you haven't been in a TSR chat room yet, you're missing out.

Of course, you can always get at us on Twitter; Van runs the site account (@TurfShowTimes) and you can guess mine (@3k_).

So hit us up with your questions, opinions, rants, raves, etc. Just don't rub it in if Temple are running over Wyoming in the New Mexico Bowl. Van's a bit touchy when it comes to his Cowboys.

(NOTE: Smiff620's FanPost explains how to get on the show and in the chat room. If you're confused about the format or new to the show, this should be required reading. Thanks, Smiff)

Turf Show Radio (S3E4) recap - smile the pain away

It had been more than two months since Van and I fired up the ol' talkbox for Turf Show Radio. Yes, it had been too long.

Thanks to T.Ram, buckeyefan55 (we'll get the intro right next time), Douglas M and maybe the best caller ever who must remain anonymous for the legend to remain intact.

Breaking down this wacky show after the jump.

Turf Show Radio - tonight, 9pm ET

Tsr_logo_medium

That's not a typo. Van and I are coming out of a two-month audio hibernation for a special 0-6 episode of Turf Show Radio tonight at 9pm ET.

Will we talk about the first seven weeks of this NFL season? Of course. Will cast a leery eye toward the final 10 weeks of the schedule? Absolutely. Will we jump ahead to the 2012 calendar year to address the 2012 NFL Draft? Damn skippy.

Of course, there will always be a level of useless banter when we hop on, because we like useless banter. But the centerpiece of the show is and always will be callers. So be one.

So once we get over the intro hump, call us up at (724) 444-7444, enter the show ID and pound symbol (97249#), and then enter your TalkShoe ID (if you don't have one, enter 1# to call in as a guest). Of course you can join the live chat room once the show starts and we'll get your question on the air that way.  And you can always get at us on Twitter, either through the official Turf Show Times Twitter feed or by hitting me up.

It's been too long since we've been on, so help us shake off the rust.

Turf Show Radio - Saturday, 6pm ET (w/ breaking news on Kroenke scandal)

Tsr_logo_medium

We're at it again.  Just two hours before the Rams and Titans kick off at the EJD, Van and I open up the lines for another episode of Turf Show Radio.  We'll talk about the win over the Colts and preview the Titans game, but obviously the main topic will be the scandal that surfaced yesterday.

Due to the intrepid efforts of Charles Robinson at Yahoo! Sports, we found out that Stan Kroenke, owner of the St. Louis Rams, has been paying some of the players on the team as far back as 1995.  The details of the investigation are mindblowingly mindblowing.  Bonuses for performances?  Organized team "activities"?  "Uncle" D'Marco Farr?  Kroenke willfully provided all of these.

To help him provide these egregious benefits, he hired middle men, buffers to do his dirty work.  In December of 2008, Kroenke hired William Joseph Peter Francis "Billy" Devaney (Yes, he really does have that many middle names), calling him his "general manager."  Devaney would oversee all aspects of Kroenke's operation.  Sickening.

So yes, we'll discuss this salacious scandal of staggering size and scope.  You know the deal: the phone number's (724) 444-7444, and the Call ID is 97249.

  Holler.

Turf Show Radio - 3k goes solo, Sat. at 6pm ET

Tsr_logo_medium

Van's going to be in the St. Louis area for the game, which means...another 3k solo episode of Turf Show Radio!  This Saturday at 6pm ET, I'll take your questions, opinions and cash donations for an hour or so ahead of the Rams' preseason opener against the Colts at 8pm ET.

You might remember back in late March, I had Turf Show Radio to myself.  Listen to the first 30 seconds of that show, and you'll get a sense of what TSR without Van is like.  Well, it's going down again.  I'm trying to line up a last-second guest for the show; we'll see how that goes.

In any case, the key is always callers.  Having you guys control the conversation is more important than anything.  This isn't ESPN Radio, where I go on diatribes about Rex Ryan's tattoo for 20 minutes and what it means in the context of the AFC East.  Nope.  I may go off track for a minute, but having you guys call in will help keep me in line.

Wanna talk about an upcoming Rams opponent?  Let's.  2012 NFL Draft?  Sure.  Potential medical treatments for Laurinaitis' pectoral injury?  I'm game; try horse placenta.

So hit me up.  It's the same old info: the phone number's (724) 444-7444, and the Call ID is 97249.

*NOTE: Arsenal's season starts on Saturday, so I might be a little less emotionally stable than usual.  It's a vicious cycle, folks.*

Turf Show Radio: Season 3 premiere - Sat., 6pm ET

Tsr_logo_medium

Football is back, and so is Turf Show Radio.  This Saturday at 6pm, Van and I (and possibly a special guest) open up the lines for another edition of TSR to talk UDFAs, veteran free agents, and training camp.  To join us on the show, call (724) 444-7444.  The show ID is 97249.

It's a day full of coincidence.  Van and I open the third season of TSR on the same day the Rams' can practice as a full squad, veterans and all.  It's also Jean Reno's birthday, and he's been in some decent flicks.  But it's Bud Selig's birthday too, and he's a crusty asshat.

But, wait now it's good again, because Saturday is also the birthday of Matisyahu, king of the Jewish reggae scene.  Ah damnit, it's a bad coincidence day; July 30 is Aleix Espargaró's birthday.  You may know him as a mediocre motorcycle racer on Pramac's racing team.  No?  Oh, right football.  Wait, that's it!  Terry Crews!

Terry Crews, noted thespian and an 11th round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 1991, was also born on July 30!  The circle is complete!

Hopefully, I won't dive into one of these sidebars of stupidity on the show.  But like Smokey the Bear said, "Only you can prevent 3k from saying dumb stuff.  And forest fires."

Oh, and Quintin Mikell is a St. Louis Ram.

  Holler.

Turf Show Radio (July 16th) open thread

Tsr_logo_medium

On today's episode of Turf Show Radio (which kicks off in an hour and 15 minutes), Van and I will be joined by Evan Silva, from Pro Football Talk and Rotoworld.  I'll keep an eye on this thread and Van will try to keep up with the Turf Show Times Twitter feed during the show, but the best way to get at us is to call in.

To hit us on the show, just call (724) 444-7444.  When the automated voice from the great technobeyond asks you for the show ID, it's 97249.  And yes, the confusing part is "user ID."  If you don't have a TalkShoe account, all you have to do is enter '1#', and you'll show up on the switchboard.  I try to make sure we get every caller in, so if it's a packed show today, we may not be able to run the 6-questions conversations we've had historically.  TST gets bigger every month, and with great popularity comes great something or other.

So hit us up.  Between me, Van and special guest Evan Silva, we've got fantasy, free agency, statisical analysis and future NFL drafts covered.  Holler at us.

Saturday night update
