Random Ramsdom
Random Ramsdom: Nov 19th, 2009
I don't know about any of you, but I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for this Sunday to come up. I can't wait to see if the Rams can continue the success we've seen through the last month (it's almost been that long since Detroit!?) and hopefully come out with a win against a good team. Going right into the buffet today, we have:
- Jim Thomas takes a look at the chimera approaching that is Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Steve Breaston. The Rams might not be able to sit back in the blitzing department this week, as dropping into coverage against these guys isn't going to be easy. Arizona has a tall, fast and physical passing game and it is going to take some creativity (gulp) to try and stop these guys.
- Mike over at Ramsgab has his Ram View series about the Saints game. The link is to part five, where he breaks down some of the defensive line play. This week, the view isn't from the couch, as he was at the game. How will the Rams defensive line play against Arizona? Hopefully we can contain Beanie Wells.
- The one and only Mike Sando takes a look at our emerging powerhouse offense. Ok, maybe that's going to far, but one can't hope to be optimistic. A number to remember? 796. That is the total amount of yards the offense has gained. In the last two games.
- Andrew from Revenge of the Birds is here to answer any questions you may have about the Cardinals game this Sunday. I'd say he thinks the Cardinals need to have a better gameplan then not party too much the night before (rub it in, rub it in).
- In case you missed it, here is the link to an excellent edition of Turf Show Radio. VanRam and his PIC 3k take a look at college football, the draft, plato, forehead tattoo's and more. I'd have to agree, we are definitely a good bad team. I wouldn't mind a flip of the two by the end of the season but that may be too wishful of thinking.
Enjoy your Thursday and GO RAMS

Random Ramsdom 11/18
Some quick hits for the rest of the afternoon:
- Jim Thomas gives us a little background on Brandon Gibson.
- A little more on the newest Ram WR, Jordan Kent.
- Mike Sando counts Adam Goldberg and Brandon Gibson among his Super Subs for the NFC West.
- The Rams are +7 at home against the Cardinals this week. Even though the wins aren't there yet, it seems Vegas is respecting the Rams more and more each week. Earlier in the season this line would have been much higher.
- Jim Thomas on the tough schedule for the Rams in the past few weeks. And, of course, Kurt Warner is coming back to town.
GO RAMS

You won't find much complaining here today. This has to be the most optimistic the Rams fanbase has been for any loss this season. Almost stealing a win from the Saints? Here are you stories for today:
- Jim Thomas says we don't have the gift of grab. I'm not too sure what he means when he says that, but I think the team was pretty lucky. Interceptions aside, getting that fumble/touchback was a big break for them. Another note he points out is that the Rams not only won in time of possession, but out-gained the Saints high powered offense.
- Bernie Miklasz believes the Rams are finally earning some respect. It's about time. I don't think you'll hear anyone say the gameplan is to not party too much the night before anymore. It's actually funny that they said that, because we almost caught them with their pants down. Again.
- Will over at Ramsherd believes the week was a real loss. He has a few observations per quarter, and commends Quincy Butler for playing well, even against Drew Brees and his targets.
- Jeff at Ramsgab has a Monday Rams-for-sale update. All things considered, I'd have to say it doesn't look that bad right now on that front. He points out that one of the reasons for selling the team is the estate tax, but they wouldn't actually have to start making huge payments out for a while.
- Mike Sando has his silver linings feature. So close to being three weeks without a Rams silver lining...So close. Like everyone else, he saw a good amount of improvement.
Enjoy your Monday's everyone.

- Mike Sando takes a look at a list of Alex Barron replacements- I mean college OT's that should come out for the draft. Never to early to start...
- The Rams filed for an extension to keep the blackout at bay. 1,500 tickets left. That would be a nice donation to veterans, especially with the current promotion going on...Just saying.
- Our old friend Anthony Hargrove is coming back to town. He feels guilty for things he did here. Can you blame him?
- Jason Brown weighs in on Veterans Day.
Enjoy your Thursday's everyone. It's about time we got back into the Sunday grind..

Random Ramsdom, Lunchtime Edition 11/11
As Van said earlier, I'm sure I speak for all of us here at TST when I say good luck to 3K. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Time for some links...
- Help our military relax and catch a Rams game with your help. This weekend, the Rams are donating one ticket to the military for every one sold to the public. Love this.
- The Rams promote LB Dominic Douglas to the 53-man roster. CB Marcus Brown who visited earlier this week was signed to fill Douglas' spot on the practice squad.
- Jim Thomas on the improving special teams under coach Tom McMahon.
- Mike Sando with his Midseason Report on the Rams. Good stuff. Midseason reports for the 49ers, Seahawks and Cardinals are also up on his blog.
- The Rams are +13.5 at home against the Saints this weekend. If you watched ESPN's 30 for 30 last night on Jimmy the Greek, you know that he loved the underdog. I'm just sayin'.
- Steve Korte offers a look at the beginning to the second half, starting with the high flying Saints.
Have a good rest of the day. GO RAMS!

Incognito out, Amendola in: Random Ramsdom, 11/10
Feelin' kind of random today? Headlines are percolating as the St. Louis Rams gear up for a tough game against the New Orleans Saints this week, so let's shake off the bye week rust and jump right in.
RG Richie Incognito will be out. It's not official yet, but he's not practicing this week because of his foot injury. Adam Goldberg will start in his place. WR/KR Danny Amendola has recovered from his concussion and will play this week.
A couple of cornerbacks, Marcus Brown and Marquis Floyd, visited Rams Park yesterday. Neither has been inked yet, and S Anthony Smith's roster spot remains open. It seem like we could use the help at CB.
The NFL's schedule makers gave the 2-win Rams of '08 no breaks this year. New Orleans is the third undefeated team they'll face. That's the last, as of this week, elite team the Rams are scheduled to play, but 5-4 Houston comes to town in week 15 looking to keep their wild card shot alive. We've got two more games against the Cardinals as well.
New Orleans had a rough outing against the Panthers last week, having to fight their way back from a 14-point hole. Head coach Sean Payton doesn't seem ready to let that happen again.
Rams Gab takes a look at the New Orleans game this week.
Didn't get enough speculation with yesterday's Jason Campbell talk? How 'bout Tony Dungy suggesting Michael Vick for the Rams? His past aside, I'm going to give that a thumbs down based on Vick's stated desire to be a QB again. I want a guy who can run a passing game with more authority, sorry.
Donnie Avery, fantasy sleeper for week 10? Maybe. I'd feel a lot better about it if I knew Marc Bulger could throw.

Random Ramsdom: Nov 9th, 2009
An interesting weekend of football occurred yesterday (and Saturday, for that matter). Boise State drops in the polls even though they win by double digits...the Titan's winning two in a row under Vince Young. Cincinnati walloping on the Ravens. Wouldn't it have been nice if the Rams took a chance on Cedric Benson? The possibilities...anyway, here are the stories for today:
- Numerous reporters have linked Gerald J. Ford, a Texas billionaire, as a possible bidder of the Rams. He has no relation to either the former president or automakers...Just if you're wondering. Whether or not he wants to keep the team in St. Louis is not known.
- If you want to thank someone for ending the Steven Jackson holdout last year, you can thank Mr. Scott Linehan. Nothing new, but it's always interesting to get a behind the scenes look at the game.
- Meet Kevin Demoff. By age three, he was playing hoops with Curt Warner (third overall pick in 1983). By the time he had grown to big-boy status, he was playing hoops with Dan Marino. What was he doing at age 31? Well, becoming the VP of Football Operations for the Rams, of course.
- Edpjr thinks this week's matchup versus the Saints is a trap game. Two things that will be hard that we said we need to do? Not turn the ball over (Marc Bulger against Darren Sharper...not a good matchup) and be innovative and lucky. Time to start handing out the rabbit's feet.
- Believe it or not, but the Rams are only two games out of second place in our division. Aim high?
Enjoy the Monday everyone.

While enjoying the Rams one and only victory, take a look at these stories:
- Feeling down on Marc Bulger because of the bogus slide he had? Is that his Jim Everett moment? Jim Thomas weighs in. (This is the article VanRam has on his piece of sticking with Bulger)
- Speaking of Bulger, here is a tidbit from CBSSports:
Through eight games, Rams QB Marc Bulger is on pace for the lowest QB rating (68.2) and passing totals of his career. Last year, in an injury shortened seven-game season, Bulger threw for 1,826 yards and 14 TDs. He has 956 yards and 3 TDs this season.
- Jeff Gordon asks, "Are we really making progress?" It's tough to say when that 1-7 record is glaring at you, but I'd say yes.
- Nick Wagoner thinks the Rams are staying on course. The rock through it all? Spagnuolo.
- Kevinramsfan reported yesterday that the line against BYE was even. It's now at +2.5 Rams. No faith?
Enjoy your Thursday everyone.
