2012 NFL offseason
Rams RB Isaiah Pead & Giants RB David Wilson Do Some Freestyle Rap
Rap music. It seems to be sweeping the nation, engulfing young people with its infectious beats, despite the efforts of squares to write it off or even ban it. But it will not go away! In fact, St. Louis Rams rookie running back Isaiah Pead tried his hand at it last week at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere event.
All joking aside for this aside, am I the only one here old enough to remember such talk about rap? That it was dangerous? Ohhh. Or destined to fade because it wasn't real music? Ahhh. Yeah, those people were a little shortsighted. Anyway, I'm not here to laugh at Tipper Gore or remind you that Ice-T's heavy metal crossover experiment Body Count was never really a threat to our nation's youth because it wasn't very good.
I'm here to drop some beats on your ass, so to speak.
Giants running back David Wilson and Pead joined forces for some freestyle rap at the Rose Bowl last weekend, and we've got the video of their performance.
Yeah, probably best that both guys stick to football, but Wilson had Pead beat with the beats. Props to both. No amount of tequila and Xanax in world can ply me up to a mic for Karaoke.
Some rap after the jump.
Brian Quick Wants To Make An Immediate Impact For The St. Louis Rams; Can He?
People may question Brian Quick's bona fides, but nobody should question the rookie's desire to become the St. Louis Rams' top wide receiver.
Quick spent some time after practice this week with Sam Bradford and Brandon Gibson, running extra routes, learning the finer points of the pro game and developing a rapport with his quarterback. It was part catch up session after missing last week's OTAs for the NFLPA Rookie Premiere event and just plain dedication.
St. Louis Rams' Offense Likely To Lean Heavily On The Running Backs As Receivers
Among the things inducing hand wringing among fans of the St. Louis Rams this year is installation of a new offense, the team's third offensive system in three years. Fortunately, Brian Scottenheimer's offense is at least somewhat familiar to the players.
"This offense is very similar, not identical, but very similar to what we ran two years ago with Pat Shurmur and his offense," Steven Jackson said after Wednesday's OTA. "The learning curve has not been too harsh on myself. Sam (Bradford) is looking good, our receivers, we have a deep group that is very competitive that's going to not only help us, but is also going to bring the best out of each individual guy. All in all, as an offense we're looking good."
That's good, because Jackson is likely to have a big role in things this year.
ESPN's NFL Future Power Rankings: No Believers in the St. Louis Rams
Yesterday, ESPN released their NFL Future Power Rankings (Insider), which are projected power rankings for the 2015 season. They used a formula based on five key categories: roster, quarterback, draft, front office and coaching.
This list needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt. No one even knows what will happen next season, let alone three years from now, but this list shows which teams seem to be the best set up for the future.
Most of the rankings seemed to make sense but there were some question marks, and a major one being, why are the St. Louis Rams ranked so low? ESPN ranked the Rams 24th in 2015. Huh?
Let me say that again ... twenty ... four. These are the Rams that just hired a proven coach in Jeff Fisher, have a few really nice young players to build around and have 4 first round picks in the next two drafts, and ESPN obviously thinks nothing of them.
Why they are wrong after the jump.
St. Louis Rams, Road To The Preseason: The Rookie Kickers
The road to the preseason is still a long one. So with that long dusty trail to go, why not talk about everyone's favorite positions? I'm talking kickers and the punters, obviously.
Honestly, I'm not surprised this isn't talked about more often. I mean, kickers and punters are important to a team, though I agree that they aren't fun to talk about. Regardless, the St. Louis Rams are in a curious situation going into next season. They released their punter and kicker from last season, and in exchange, they have two rookies.
More on this situation after the jump.

How To Settle Differences In NFL Vs. NFLPA? Mano Y Mano, Of Course
Playing for the Arizona Cardinals is a serious demerit in my book. Then again, I have a multi-layered bias on that front. I still think Larry Fitzgerald is one helluva player and seems like a pretty good guy as well, despite that whole Cardinals thing. He had a winner of an idea on Thursday for how we might settle the seemingly endless cascade of lawsuits that have come to define the NFL offseason lately.

What's not to love? Mano y mano. Goodell, DeSmith. It might not be the greatest fight ever seen at historic Madison Square Garden, but it could be the most entertaining. Hell, bring in the legions of rowdy Jets fans that make it impossible to hear inside Radio City Music Hall during the draft, and it would be quite the circus environment ... not to mention a pretty rich fundraiser.
The question: Who would win? SB Nation is running a poll over on the big site, to gauge opinions on the outcome of said fight.
Goodell has the size advantage, but Smith is a crafty lawyer. Hmm ...
Bonus points if Don King can somehow be involved.
Coach Jeff Fisher Says '70 Percent' Of The St. Louis Rams' Playbook Has Been Installed
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher sounded pleased with the work his team had done through a second week of OTAs. Those looking for a more quantitative peg on the work done so far will find some solace in Fisher's assertion that "70 percent" of the playbook, for both offense and defense, has now been installed.
St. Louis Rams Over/Under: 6 Wins
The odds makers in Las Vegas don't think highly of the St. Louis Rams' chances this season, at least not compared to the rest of the league. In a first look at the early odds, Cantor Gaming puts the over/under win total for the Rams at six.
If you want a silver lining, that's better than five teams in the league. On the down side, it puts the Rams on the bottom of the NFC West. Arizona and Seattle are both at seven wins for their over/under.
In truth, six wins would be a big improvement for a team that won two games last season and is averaging three wins a year in seasons that all blended together to form one big mental image of pain and misery and wasted Sundays. At least we've had the NFL Draft and a damn fine community of fans 'round these parts at TST.
Better health alone should give the Rams another two or three wins. The rate of injuries suffered last season was the worst in the NFL. If the receivers work out better this season and Sam Bradford rebounds, the Rams might be able to add a few more wins to their total.
In 17 years as a head coach, Jeff Fisher's teams have finished with six or fewer wins only four times, including his first season with the Oilers in 1994, in which he took over with six games left in the season. His last season with the Titans in 2010, the team won just six games.
