With the 2017 NFL Draft in the books, NFL teams can now turn their full attention to next year...like next next year. Failing to plan is planning to fail, and therefore we mock.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff has been good - not great - during the early stages of the 2017 offseason. But good just won’t cut it in Sean McVay’s high-powered offense.
And as a result, a somewhat early (but never too early) 2018 mock draft from Optimum Scouting’s Eric Galko has the Rams replacing Jared Goof (h/t Walter Football) in 2018. The Rams, who will clearly only win 2 or 3 games in 2017, are on the clock with the No. 4 overall pick:
4. Los Angeles Rams: Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
Unless Jared Goff makes major strides in Year 2, the Rams can’t afford to sink with him at the helm. New coach Sean McVay has no ties to Goff, and if things don’t work out, McVay may prefer Josh Rosen, a far better fit for his offense.
Apologies in advance that it didn’t work out, Jared. It’s high time for you to ride off into the sunset. Here’s to hoping you’ve got that whole east/west, orbiting thing straightened out.
