Rams could leave the 2015 NFL Draft, with twin towers of pain!

I believe the Rams should target two wide receivers: Dorial Green-Beckham and Darren Waller. Dorial Green-Beckham and Darren Waller have a lot to offer to the run first scheme that the Rams wish to employ. First of all, DGB is a generational type of athlete. He is a 6'5" 237 lb., wide-receiver with exceptionally rare talents and traits. He is an "X" receiver capable of playing the "Z" receiver spot, plus he can benefit greatly from being mentored by Kenny Britt like Brian Quick was.

Ray Sherman, our wide-receiver coach happens to be pretty good at developing wide-receiver talent. And, I say it's time that we give him truly physically gifted athletes to fine tune and mold. Darren Waller, another monster-sized wide receiver at 6'6" 238 lbs., in my opinion, is an "X" receiver capable of doubling as a dangerous receiving tight-end option.

While we have a good amount of receiving talent, already, such as: Kenny Britt, Brain Quick, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Jared Cook, there are a lot of questions surrounding them. None of them can be considered a consistent threat, or dominant.

DGB could give us both, a consistent and dominant threat, on the outside. The only concern for him, is dealing with press coverage. That is not as bad as it sounds, because Dorial is not weak and can physically dominate a corner-back, while run blocking. He has to learn how to win those "hand-battles" at the line of scrimmage. He's pretty similar to A.J. Green, in that regard. This guy has it all, a very balanced skill-set that screams " I AM A PRO BOWL CALIBER WR"!! Reading this scouting report from NFL.com, gives me reason to believe he "MAY" be there in the second round. If so, we should grab him. I'm even game for grabbing him at #20 ;-).

DORIAL GREEN-BECKHAM

Analysis

Strengths

Imposing physical specimen with outstanding height, weight and speed numbers. Smooth, effortless strides to chomp up cushion and blow by overconfident corners. Runs routes with forward lean and can activate second gear when he chooses. Rare catch radius with ability to pluck would-be interceptions and turn them into catches. Has soft, sure hands. Can see a throw late and still haul it in. Able to drive cornerbacks down the field and then break route off for wide-open look underneath. Shows flashes of special ability when ball is in the air. Plus body control. Can twist and contort in any direction in order to get his hands on a throw.

Weaknesses

Play strength is a major concern. Struggles to free himself from press coverage and can be taken completely out of his routes. Runs sloppy, rounded routes. Fails to set up his breaks and frequently leads cornerbacks to his destination. Slow to adjust routes and find open space against zone. Fails to create the separation that is potentially available for him at top of routes. Rarely looks to body up cornerbacks and keep them out of the throw. Suspect work ethic. Awareness of footwork near sideline an issue. Considered a problem child at Missouri. Suspended twice by Missouri and arrested twice for marijuana-related incidents. Kicked off team at Missouri in April 2014 after details of his alleged role in an alleged burglary were released by Columbia, Mo., police. He allegedly shoved a female student down some stairs during the alleged incident, but no charges were filed. Missed entire 2014 season.

Sources Tell Us

"I think the consistent problems for Josh Gordon are going to leak over and hurt his draft stock. He couldn't keep himself out of trouble, had no structure growing up and didn't take coaching at Missouri. He's tall and fast and has good hands, but he can't be trusted. Why would you take a guy like that before the third day?" -- NFC director of personnel

DORIAL GREEN-BECKHAM

Bottom Line

Long-strider with vertical ability to change a game and the catch radius and body control to make the difficult look easy. However, Green-Beckham struggles against physical corner-backs, and is raw as a route runner with poor instincts when it comes to getting open. It's easy to bet on the traits when a receiver has high football character and is a willing worker, but teams could pass on the traits early in the draft due to his perceived lack of work ethic and overall character.

DARREN WALLER

Analysis

DARREN WALLER

Darren Waller would give us a good deep threat/red-zone guy, who may blossom into more down the line. He may be a bit of a project, but well worth the investment. A potential late-round steal. His athleticism is not in question, it's his route-running and digesting a playbook. Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas more than makes up for Stephen Hill's lack of production, to warrant giving this guy a shot. Stephen Hill did, however, ensured he won't be ridiculously over drafted. Which is great news for us. The scouting report below, is from NFL.com. Take a minute to soak it all in. I could see us drafting him around the 3rd or 4th round.

Darren Waller

Strengths

Yet another Georgia Tech receiver with great length. Plays to his height. Gathers himself and boxes out defenders on fades and jump balls. Uses long arms and gets on his ladder to sky over corner-backs and high point throws. Effortless strider with untapped vertical speed to go yard. Plus body control. Usually gets two feet in bounds on sideline throws. Plucks the ball with extended hands. Doesn't fear hits from safeties. Almost impossible to guard on back-shoulder throws. Confident and competitive when the ball is in the air.

Weaknesses

Will lose speed when turning to locate ball. Shield blocker in run game, giving very modest effort by Georgia Tech standards. Raw route runner with limited exposure to complex routes. Rounds off in-breaking and out routes. Needs improved understanding of leverage and how to create separation with it. Allows smaller cornerbacks to crowd him. Forced just two pass-interference calls over the last two seasons. Limited production and targets over career.

Brian Quick

DARREN WALLER DARREN WALLER

Bottom Line

Late bloomer who is faster than quick and has coveted size-speed combination. Waller isn't just a tall receiver, he has legitimate hands and body control and can impose his size on mismatched corner-backs. Waller has a low floor, but with a little more competitive fire and technique work, he could become a legitimate touchdown maker in the league.

I know some of you want Offensive Lineman, and believe that drafting these guys would hinder that. I strongly believe FA is the way to go for rebuilding our O-line. We could sign Stefen Wisniewski @ Center, Byron Bell @ RG/RT and if we're really feeling frisky, we could pursue Mike Iupati @LG, as well. Of course, that would require Wells, Long and Bradford to be dealt with. But I'll leave the "cap shavings" to the experts.

With all that being said, these are the two additions I hope we make to our team. What are your thoughts on these players, and their potential impact on our team?.
