Can Keenum Help?

With Foles being demoted to back up for the indefinite future, I've been pondering how much can Case help this struggling (struggling is an understatement) offense. Foles looked competent in the first game of the season against Seattle, but his performance has declined every week with the one exemption being the Arizona game. There were some games this year where he played better than the stat line (dropped passes), but for the most part he has played sub par.

I say this because there was a reason Case Keenum was the back up. He isn't as good as Foles, but with Foles at his currently deteriorated state, I think Case Keenum can be an upgrade for this Rams team. I don't know how much of upgrade he will be, or for how long, but I think he will light a fire under this offense. With the way this offense is set up, they aren't asking a lot from the quarterback position. With Gurley taking most of the workload, they just need a quarterback to connect on a few passes that move the chains and maybe connect on a few passes down the field to open up the run game for the "Gurley Show." Foles wasn't able to accomplish those task and we will see if Case can.

The one thing to watch for with Keenum is he likes to cough up the ball. In 10 games with the Texans, he fumbled the ball 7 times. The Rams can't afford turn overs that can change the momentum of the game. Despite his fumbling problem, I think Case can help this team win a few games. He's by no means a game changer, but he's proven himself in Houston that he can win games in the NFL. Hopefully Case can right the ship and get this Rams team the off the losing train.
