My Offseason 2 cents

A 6-10 record, not enough from this team, but here are my two cents anyway about where the team should head this offseason.

My Guide:

1) Bradford is no guarantee to stay healthy and he said he considered retirement (yikes!), look at Sanchez and Hoyer in FA and Hundley, Winston (this year), Petty or Grayson. Verdict: Trade a 5th Rounder for Mike Glennon or Geno Smith to backup Bradford or Draft Jameis if he falls past Tennessee (Jets at 6 are the next best bet, Redskins just need assets and don't have any real fits at 5, but depends on how committed he is to football, not baseball or just stupid Jameis stuff)

2) Personally I am not sold on Tre Mason as a feature back, remove the 89 yard run and he only average 3.8 yards per carry, Zac Stacy for a 4th rounder sounds good (I don't think Schotty likes him) and just like last year's WR class, it is RB galore and it is worth taking one of the Top 5: Gurley, Duke Johnson, Telvin Coleman, Ameer Abdullah, Melvin Gordon, Buck Allen, Mike Davis, David Cobb, TJ Yeldon and Jeremy Langford. Verdict: Draft Gurley, Coleman or TJ Yeldon. A Mason and Gurley 1-2 Punch for years to come. Trade Zac Stacy for a 4th.

3) We have Quick (outside), Britt (outside), Bailey (slot) and Austin (return man and bubble screen guy), but adding a star at the position just makes Tavon, Stedman and Kenny more dangerous, enter Jeremy Maclin, Torrey Smith or Randall Cobb, any of these three will just add another dimension to this offence. Verdict: Pay 1 of the 3, re sign Kenny Britt for 2 years at $6 with performance and attitude based incentives.

4) Cut Jake Long.

5) Options galore here, the draft has many talents and so does FA, we can Sign Orlando Franklin to play any position (experience at LG, RG and RT) because he has that versatility and sign either AQ Shipley, Rodney Hudson, Will Montgomery or Brian De La Peunte to replace Scott Wells (cut) or draft Reese Dismukes or Cam Erving to go next to Brandon Scherff or Cedric Ogbeuhi. Verdict: Sign Rodney Hudson for 5-$30M or draft Dismukes in the 3rd, get Orlando Franklin at 4-$20M and keep Joe Barksdale at 4-$23M. A solid O-Line that is guaranteed to perform without having 2 rookies and a sophomore LT sounds great to me.

6) We have Kendall Langford at DT and can easily be traded for a 4th, take Jordan Phillips the Redshirt Sophomore out of Oklahoma, who recently declared with the pick, he will be much cheaper option that provides a high ceiling.

7) With Laurinitis on the decline, let's look at alternate options: Brandon Spikes is a stud, Rey Maluaga and David Harris are available for cheap, as well as Mason Foster, Colin McCarthy, Rolando McClain and Josh Mauga. Bernard McKinney and Denzel Perryman also look like solid 2nd or 3rd round options. Verdict: Get Brandon Spikes or Rolando McClain for no more than $5M, if not draft McKinney in the 2nd. If none of these, consider Colin McCarthy or Mason Foster for a cheap deal, see if they perform and see if they can be the future at MLB. Ramik Wilson is also a good late round option.

8) Jo-Lonn Dunbar not scaring anyone, why not look around: With Jason Worlids, Brian Orakpo (prove it deal), Freeney, McPhee and Houston out there, along with Dante Fowler/Erik Striker, all of these can be our version of Khalil Mack or Von Miller or Maclolm Smith (remember that Super Bowl MVP?) can be a coverage and run stop guy. Verdict: Just throw $4M at Orakpo, you never know and $3M at McPhee, if not consider Dante Fowler, Bud Dupree and Dwight Freeney to provide pass rush and eventually replace Chris Long.

9) I am not sold on Janoris Jenkins, with Kareem Jackson, Byron Maxwell, Walter Thurmond and Antonio Cromartie available for cheap, why not? Verdict: Sign either 3 (not Thurmond) for $4M a year

10) At safety: Gilchrist, Chung, Rolle, Parker, Searcy and Rahim Moore are out there, just get someone for $2M. Or....just throw something at Tashaun Gipson, coming off an ACL injury and an RFA who knows? Is he the ball hawk we need.

11) Fire Jeff Fisher, Schotty and Gregg Williams, hire Kris Richard (DC) and either Todd Bowles, Teryl Austin, Josh McDaniels or Pep Hamilton and get Marc Trestman, Rob Chudzinski or Clyde Christensen to be OC. I know it won't happen, but hey, let's get real, yet another losing year and after 20 seasons he has not won a SB.

Finances: Bradford's salary goes down to $6M ($10.5M), Jake Long ($8M), Langford ($6M), Wells ($3.75M), Laurinitis ($3.5M), Pead ($1M), 11 low on the depth chart players ($5.5M) = $38.25 freed up. (Already $4.5M under projected cap)

Total Available Money: $42.75M

FA: Maclin/Smith/Cobb = $8M, Hudson (if not draft Dismukes) = $6M, Franklin = $5M, Barksdale = $5M, Spikes = $4M, McPhee/Orakpo = $4M, Jackson/Maxwell = $4M, Britt = $3M, Kendricks = $2M Total Spent $43M (including Hudson, McPhee/Orakpo and Barksdale)

Draft: 1st Round: Either Scherff (Barksdale replacement), Dupree or Fowler (LB/DE), Parker (Instead of FA WR)

2nd Round: Todd Gurley/Coleman/Yeldon, RB or Bernard McKinney, MLB

3rd Round: Reese Dismukes, C (Instead of Hudson)

4th Round: Ramik Wilson, ILB (For Stacy)

5th Round: Jordan Phillips, NT (for Langford)

5th Round: Vincent Mayle, WR or trade for Glennon/Geno
