Vacationing in St Louis | My impressions of Training Camp Day 2.

St louis is a beautiful city; best ive been in. Small town feel, traffic is fantastic, and the people are friendly. My wife and I are seriously considering moving here in the near future. So with that said, i went to my first Rams Practice and ended up chit chating with the Rams fans around me. Tons of Fun! I have some impressions i would like to share from that practice:

Tavon Auston played lights out today. At one point he was double covered with a deep pass that was nothing more than a dead duck (thrown by Davis) and tavon snagged that sucker. Impressive. We also saw a few handoffs, one breaking for a large gain.

Brian Quick is a bust. Ive said it. In every drill, he looked like a stiff log. Obviously he is taller than our other receivers, but Kenny Britt made it look easy. He dropped not one, not two, but THREE passes. All completely uncovered. Thats right, he couldnt haul in simple pitch and catch. He did make a few nice catches later, but his consistency is terrible. I dont expect to see him get alot of playing time based upon what i have seen from our other receivers.

Like Bailey. He might have the best hands on the team. Shame he will be out 4 games.

Kenny Britt is our #1. No competition. That is a man among boys and plays like it. Didnt have a single drop, and caught several balls i thought were either overthrown or covered too well. He beat almost every double team today. Crazy good.

Not much to report on the RBs. No pads, no tackling, impossible to tell anything other than they are in great shape.

#79 is a monster. A physical freak. When the big boys first trotted onto the field you thought "dang, those dudes are big"; then that man comes holding up the rear and everyone around me is muttering "dammmmmn". His pass blocking is horrid though. You can tell he doesnt know what he is doing yet because he seems distracted during pass plays. Lots of backpeddeling when he isnt engaged with a defender. He seems to be the type like likes to knock someone down. Sadly we didnt get to see too much of that since it wasnt a padded practice.

Aaron Donald is the truth. His hands are amazing. Every play he is penetrating double teams.

Our D Line is great as expected. Quinn was beating his man consistently.

Micheal Sam had 2 good plays; one forced an interception, the other would have been a sack. However the rest of the day he was silenced. Not much explosion, and he was facing off against 2nd stringers the entire time. I hoped for a little more dominance; but whoever our 2nd string tackle is, had him bottled up fairly easily.

On a final note, the DL signed autographs today. Children 14 and younger were able to stand in line and since i left my 6 month old at G-ma's ... darn.

Luckly C.Long came over after the signings to autograph a few fans memorabilia. Apparently he did the same yesterday as well. So if you are at rams practice this month, hang over near the entrance by the fence and he might pay you a visit. I didnt expect anything, but he is a really cool dude.

Thank God football is here!
