With the first pick in the 2014 NFL draft the Houston Texans select Jadaveon Clowney. The STL Rams are now on the Clock.
STL RAMS NEEDS
OFFENSIVE LINE. The OL is the Rams most glaring need. Wars in the NFL are won in the trenches. The big uglies are a necessary ingredient to winning in the NFL. The Rams best OL member suffered a season ending knee injury last year and there's no guarantee he will be ready opening day. Saffold should man one of the guard spots, but he is injury prone. Barksdale proved to be a decent RT last year, but he will be a FA after this year. So the Rams need no less than 2 big uglies, preferably 3, from this years draft.
SAFETY AND CORNERBACK. TJ McDonald played well at times last year for the Rams, but the Rams need a ball hawking free safety to pair with him. The Rams used Janoris Jenkins
and Trumane Johnson at cornerback last year, but neither are stellar "shutdown" corners.
WIDE RECEIVER? Some would argue the the Rams should not draft a WR in the first round, because they believe the current WR group just needs additional time to develop and they will be fine given that time. Others have argued that the missing ingredient for the Rams current WR group is a "true #1" WR. Some have argued that Sammy Watkins is that missing #1 WR and that the Rams should select him at #2. Still others have argued that Mike Evans is what the Rams need to complete their WR corps.
BPA. The Rams don't have a glaring need at LB, but some would argue that K. Mack is just too good to pass up and that the Rams should pull the trigger on an outstanding athlete like Mack.
