twelcher15 Mock Draft 2.0

With every off season comes changes in rosters, player development, and new needs that arise for every team. So has been the case for the Rams, who acquired many useful assets in free agency. Though I've already made a mock draft a couple months ago, I'd like a redo to address our new needs as Rams fans. In this scenario, I traded down to the sixth spot for the Falcons 2nd and 3rd round picks.

With the 6th pick overall in the 2014 Draft, the St. Louis Rams select....

Greg Robinson OT Auburn

Why It Makes Sense: Sorry Rock, but this is a win win scenario for Fisher. With a prospective running back in Stacy who had a great rookie year and a QB who's trying to prove himself to his fans, we could potentially blow the gates of Hell open with Robinson's run blocking and he'll add stellar size and feet to our pass blocking, allowing Bradford time to scan the field as well as ample seconds for our young receiving core to get open down field. This guy could be the link between mediocrity and success. Clowney makes no sense because we already have Quinn who, in my opinion, has a higher ceiling and is already the better and more polished player. Watkins is out as well since we already have a player with his playing style in Tavon Austin.

With the 13th pick overall in the 2014 Draft, the St. Louis Rams select....

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix SS Alabama

Why It Makes Sense: As a ball-hawking coverage receiver, Ha Ha would complement McDonald's hard hitting, tackle first style of play nicely. With the addition of Coach Williams in the off season, he could turn this young gun into a star. There is some speculation as to whether or not to take a CB here and if that man is Gilbert, I'd be content. On the topic of taking Bucannon, however, I have to admirably decline. If we really see Safety as one of our biggest needs, we need to take the man who holds the most promise and fits best with our system. That guy is Dix.

With the 37th overall pick in the 2014 draft, the St. Louis Rams select...

Kelvin Benjamin WR FSU

Why It Makes Sense: First round we covered our top needs, so this round I figured we'd slam the one area the Rams have been lacking since the early 2000's... Offense. Benjamin may not be the speedster or overall athlete that Watkins is, but he beats Watkins by a long shot in one category... size. It's been a while since we picked Brian Quick in the draft. He was our last WR pick who was a size specimen. Though Quick may still have his breakout year, why not roll the dice again? Benjamin has great hands and a very large catch radius. He'd be a nice addition to add to our receiving core. Especially if him and Quick both excel. At 6'5 and 6'4, these two bad boys would be extremely hard to cover. Even for "The Best" Richard Sherman.

With the 44th pick overall in the 2014 Draft, the St. Louis Rams select...

Gabe Jackson OG Mississippi State

Why It Makes Sense: With Big Gabe guarding Bradford alongside Robinson, he's not gonna have injuries as an excuse because he won't get injured. He'll be forced to produce as he's given all the time in the world to release the ball in the pocket. If he doesn't succeed with these stars lined up in front of him, Adios! As for the guy who comes up behind Sam, lucky you! You'll be protected by one of the most solidified lines in the NFL.
