Sammy Watkins Thinks the Rams are Great...and Sam Bradford Too!

Scott Halleran

Former Clemson WR Sammy Watkins joined Jim Rome in studio on Tuesday. He spoke about what he brings to the table as a wideout, and a few potential landing spots...

Sammy Watkins joined Jim Rome on The Jim Rome Show yesterday.  In a short interview, Watkins touches on his performance at the combine, his status the "Number 1" wide receiver, and the skills he brings to the table at the NFL level.

Blazing speed aside, Watkins appears mature enough to know that he’s also got his opportunities.  In regards to his route running:

I feel like I have nice routes.  I’m not where I need to be today.  But I’m going to get there.  It’s just learning the position of your body and your footsteps and learning when to run full speed, and when not to.

I don’t want to ruin the video, though.  Maybe more surprising - than the wheezing from Rome - was Watkins answer to "Where would you like to go?" [2:40 in]

"...a great organization, with a great quarterback, and someone I can learn from. I think the Rams have that."

Yeah, he said it.  Sam Bradford’s a great quarterback.  He then listed teams like the Browns and Texans who currently are direct-snapping the ball to their running backs, so take it with a grain of salt.  Obviously, he’s got to say the right things at this time of year, and covered his bases by stating he’d go to all 32 teams.

Regardless, he said the Rams are a great organization...with a great quarterback.  And you need to know about it.
