My Mock Draft for the St. Louis Rams : Picks are based on : Draft History, Coach and GM Preference : Possible Free Agent Losses : Depth of Draft: Rumored Interests : Previously Interviewed
(2): Greg Robinson OT Auburn: The Rams love athletically imposing players and players with abnormal upside: The Rams seemed incredibly interested in him at the combine and at his pro day. Granted Fisher has never taken a Lineman in the first round but he has said to not count out an O Lineman.
(13)- Anthony Barr OLB UCLA- Barr is the type of LB that Greg Williams will love. I believe Dunbar will be cut do to financial reasons and Barr blitzes the quarterback well and has descent cover instincts. I believe that the Rams will get Roman Harper or Louis Delmas in free agency and possibly even Verner. Barr will be the player Williams will ask for.
(13) Deone Buchannan SS Washington St.-Despite my belief that the Rams will sign Harper or Delmas, i still believe that we will look towards the future at this position. Buchannan has crazy range and has shown the ability to play in the box similar to TJ McDonald.
(13) : Kelcy Quarles DT South Carolina- Langford and Brockers seem to have the interior locked up but that doesnt mean we cant add depth. Quarles is a big body and run stuffs very well. After passing up on Clowney i think the Rams will take their next best defensive player and add talent for depth and rotational purposes. Fisher has always noted that you can never have enough talented D Linemen
(13)- Aaron Murray QB Georgia- A Prototypical Pocket Passing QB. Schottenheimer will love him. Murray will not be rushed into any kind of expectation due to the fact he is coming off the same injury as our franchise QB Bradford. Murray has shown the ability to go through progressions well and the ability to move the chains consistently.
(13) Walt Aikens CB Liberty- A Loud mouth and physical CB? Fisher and Williams will love this guy. Fisher has always been an expert at drafting CB's late in the draft and turning them into studs. Finnegan, Verner, McCourty, Tru Johnson, etc. Aikens has some refining needed but he does have upside and has impressed alot of scouts at his Pro Day.
(13)- Jeff Scott RB Ole Miss- Possible Training Cam Body and Special Teams standout- I have heard rumors that Scott was given a high grade by Rams Personnel so therefore i beileve we will take him. ( i wish i could find the article in which i found that we were interested in him, sorry)
(13)- Gabe Ikard C Oklahoma- Added for depth and someone that Bordeau and Wells can coach up. Athletically more imposing than often given credit for and is solid in run blocking.
(26)- Josh Stewart WR Oklahoma St. -I have only watched 2 games of his ( TCU and Texas Tech) but i was definetly impressed. He is definetly not a top 10 WR in this draft but i do believe he is better than a 7- UFA projection. Stewart has good size and sits down on his routes well. The Rams will like his upside and competitive nature. He will probably compete with Veltung as a number 6 WR and possible Kick/ Punt Returner
